How to Wash a Human Hair Wig

A lot of women use human hair wigs and extensions. They can make your hairstyle attractive and have a unique image.

Keeping wig in good condition is not as easy as it seems. Hair tends to form nodules and lose its color and luster.

Here are some tips for washing your hair wigs:

Step 1: Brush the wig

It’s important to brush out your wig before washing it to avoid worsening existing tangles. Brush gently from the tips, moving gradually upwards to the cap. This prevents breakage.

Step 2: Shampooing

Put an appropriate amount of warm water in the basin, or wet the wig with running water from cap to tip by using a cup, a shower head or water directly from the tap. Apply the shampoo as you would on human hair and then rinse.

Step 3: Rinse the wig

When rinsing, the direction of water flow is important to avoid tangles. Always rinse with warm water from the cap to the tip, just as you would wet a human lace wig before washing.

Step 4: Conditioning

The wig conditioner is massaging into a small band of hair, similar to the way shampoo is applied to human hair. Then rinse.

Step 5: Drying the wig

For best results, dry your wig on a wig stand or on a long, thin object, like a can of hairspray. Always keep your wig out of direct sunlight, never wring the water out of the hair, blot it with a towel rather.
